I just had to post this pony picture here. I generally post fan stuff to DA, but i think this just turned out hilarious. It's a mash up of the new "MY Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" series and Final Fantasy 13. Rainbow dash is a dragoon, Fluttershy a white mage, Twighlight sparkle a scholar, Rarity a dancer, and Pinkie Pie a Bard. The other picture is a quick sketch of me making a silly face.

It's an old character!

When I first got into photoshop for drawing and Magi Nation for style this was the first character I ever made. The orginal is horrible looking, and I don't think I have the file or anything, but here is one of my remakes. I've been playing with this file for a little bit here and there.
I think it turned out well. I love the way the colours on the dress turned out. This was also the first time I've ever lined a character using the 1 pxl. brush.

Besides working on my reel I think the next thing I work on will be in flash... and cell shaded.

Right now my sketch book is filled with sky captain lily drawings and some characters that I used to draw all the time, but have forgotten with time. I decided it was time to get them back out, flesh them out proper...maybe give them names....and draw them right.

Hey does anyone know where I can get a decently priced copy of photoshop 5 master collection?

It's a digital painting!

I started this painting at work today during some down time. I was just playing with some brushes, and was inspired by some colour on deviantart. I tried to keep the brush strokes loose. (which is very hard for me)I think I was mostly successful. I will probably keep experimenting with this kind of digital painting for a while. Perhaps I'll try some still life, like a flower, or some figure drawing.

It's a Sky Captain Lily!

So this is something that I have been drawing for months now. Ever since my daughter picked up a pair of goggles and thought they were cooler than sliced bread. She insists on wearing them around the house for at least an hour or two a day. Which is the cutest friken thing EVER. I imagine though when she first put them on she didn't think of herself as a steampunk inspired Sky Captain... Rather the Evil genius 'Professor Bug' from the 'Backyardigans'. That aside, she is what inspires me a lot these days, so it's all good. I'm sure this will be the upgrade from Super Hero Lily. Which in case you all didn't know was a story that my husband used to tell Lily every night before she went to bed. She and walnut would go on grand adventures and trials and run into people she knows in real life in her storybook journey. So here we are with her turning into a sky captain, with her side kick walnut. I have a few other characters sketched out for this Series, but I am unsure that I will keep them in the lineup.
One of these days I'm going to have Ken (my husband) write down the old stories he's told her, and come up with some new fabulous ones for SCL. Anyway here's her model sheet. If anyone wants me to upload the model sheet not on a textured background, please let me know in the comments section, and I will oblige.
Peace <3

It's a pink kitty!

I was watching despicable me, and really enjoyed the style of the 3 sleepy kittens book in the movie. Thus this cat came to be I looked on amazon to see if I could buy a copy of the book, and you can, but I was reading the reviews...I was disappointed to find out that the book is not as nicely made as the one in the movie. No brush, and apparently the puppets aren't fabric or in the same place as the ones in the movie.
But meh, i guess. This seems to have come out pretty well.

It's a realization!

After having watched tangled this past weekend i have come to the realization that i seem to be greatly inspired to draw... by colour. The scene in the movie where they are lighting the lanterns (and rapunzel is there with Eugene) is amazing. The colours are just gorgeous. I found myself wanting to sit in front of my laptop right there to try and replicate those colours and feelings. It's strange but when i think back to serious inspiration that I have, many of my art binges were done after I had been inspired by an illustration that I was just wowed by the colour. Don't get me wrong, line and style, and movement for that matter, inspire me, but something about colour really wows me.

just a thought.
